Job Summary
As a line cook you will be required to complete the menial tasks in a kitchen including duties such as cleaning, washing up and basic food preparation.
Day to Day
Follow the prep list created by chefs to plan duties
Label and stock all ingredients on shelves so they can be organized and easily accessible
Measure ingredients and seasonings to be used in cooking
Prepare cooking ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables, cutting meat, etc.
Undertaking basic cooking duties such as reducing sauces, parboiling food, etc.
Prepare simple dishes such as salads, entrees, etc.
Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen by sanitizing surfaces
Ensure all food and other items are stored properly
Report failing equipment to Supervisor
Report Health and Safety hazards to Supervisor
Communicate effectively with staff
Accept training to enable safe completion of duties
Carry out other duties as may reasonably be required from time to time.
About You
High school diploma is the minimum requirement.
Cleanliness as a person is an added factor as the work is mostly on cleaning and being clean.
A certification in food handling
Experience as a prep cook.
Knowledge of health and safety rules in kitchen.
Manual dexterity able to operate cutting tools and kitchen utensils.
