Line Cook

Job Summary

As a line cook you will be required to complete the menial tasks in a kitchen including duties such as cleaning, washing up and basic food preparation.
 

Day to Day

  • Follow the prep list created by chefs to plan duties
  • Label and stock all ingredients on shelves so they can be organized and easily accessible
  • Measure ingredients and seasonings to be used in cooking
  • Prepare cooking ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables, cutting meat, etc.
  • Undertaking basic cooking duties such as reducing sauces, parboiling food, etc.
  • Prepare simple dishes such as salads, entrees, etc.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen by sanitizing surfaces
  • Ensure all food and other items are stored properly
  • Report failing equipment to Supervisor
  • Report Health and Safety hazards to Supervisor
  • Communicate effectively with staff
  • Accept training to enable safe completion of duties
  • Carry out other duties as may reasonably be required from time to time.

About You

  • High school diploma is the minimum requirement.
  • Cleanliness as a person is an added factor as the work is mostly on cleaning and being clean.
  • A certification in food handling
  • Experience as a prep cook.
  • Knowledge of health and safety rules in kitchen.
  • Manual dexterity able to operate cutting tools and kitchen utensils.
